FAQ

  • What is the delivery time?

Our delivery time is between 4 and 10 weeks on average depending on transport. We provide pallet transport all over Europe.

  • What are the conditions for returns?

It is possible to return within 14 days. However, the return costs are at your own expense.

  • Do you also deliver abroad?

Yes, our fronts can be delivered anywhere in Europe and the UK!

  • Can I also pick up my order?

Yes, it is possible to pick up an order from us in Abbenbroek, The Netherlands

  • Can I visit the showroom without an appointment during opening hours?

No, it is unfortunately not possible to visit our showroom without an appointment. As we are an addition to an IKEA kitchen, we would like to receive the kitchen design through a completed IKEA kitchen planner or a manual sketch with dimensions. We like to work with a top and side view.

If the offer appeals, we are happy to make an (online) appointment to show the different materials and discuss the design.

  • I am unable to design a kitchen through the IKEA Kitchen Planner. What now?

No problem! It is also possible to supply a manual sketch or other (kitchen) design with dimensions. Do you need help? On this page you will find more information and it is possible to download four basic floor plans.

  • Is it possible to supply wood yourself?

No, it is not possible to supply wood yourself. We only work with wood that our regular supplier delivers to us.

  • Can I order a sample of the wood?

Yes, we also offer samples of our materials. When you order the kitchen fronts, this amount will be deducted. You can request a sample board here.

  • Do I buy the kitchen cabinets and layout from IKEA myself?

Yes, you can buy the cabinets and layout of the kitchen yourself at IKEA. You can also choose to have the IKEA order ordered by KOAK Design at an additional cost.

  • Do you also supply other worktops than concrete worktops?

We do not supply worktops ourselves, but we do work together with a renowned supplier. They supply composite, granite, ceramics, marble, dekton and many more other materials. We do charge measurement, pre-driving and installation costs.

  • Which skirting can I use?

We recommend using 1 of the IKEA skirts depending on the floor. We often use dark brown for clients, almost black skirting (LAXARBY) or the new anthracite skirt (KUNGSBACKA).

You can get these in 8 and 11 cm depending on the slab thickness and the desired height of the kitchen.

  • Are your fronts pre-drilled?

Yes, all the fronts that we supply are pre-drilled by us.

  • For which systems do you make your doors?

We make doors and drawers for the IKEA METOD kitchen cabinets.

  • Do you also make fronts for non-IKEA kitchens?

No, we do not make fronts for kitchens other than IKEA METOD.

  • What do you advise in terms of equipment?

You can opt for the IKEA equipment, but that is of course not mandatory. The price-quality ratio is certainly good.

We ourselves offer PITT cooking gas burners, sinks, Falmec extractor hoods, Quooker taps, Bora Basic hobs and Evoline sockets. You can purchase other equipment from a local or online supplier.

Please note: with dishwashers you have to take into account that a front of 80 cm high will fit. Not sure whether the dishwasher will fit in the kitchen? Check here.

You can always contact us to check whether the equipment is suitable for the kitchen.

  • How do I maintain the doors?

We oil the doors so that they are protected against spots. They can then be cleaned thoroughly using a damp cloth and green or brown natural soap. After a period of time, they can be lightly sanded again and a new layer of oil can be applied.

Note: The doors are extra sensitive due to hardening of the oil for the first 3 weeks. For painted fronts (water based) the complete hardening time is 3 months.

Solid wood is and remains a natural product, which should not be aggressively cleaned with cleaning agents. If a spot still shows up, then it can be sanded and oiled again.

  • Wood changes in shape. Will it not warp?

KOAK Design mainly works with solid oak. This creates a robust, natural look and therefore you can really see that it is a half-timbered kitchen.

Solid wood works; it expands and contracts in width of the wood between seasons. A door of 59,6 cm has a margin of about 3 mm. The wood we use is optimally dried slowly and then sawn to the right size. The doors then expand slightly in the beginning.

Oak wood is a natural material and therefore subject to natural conditions, such as temperature and humidity. Elaborated wood does not exist. For this reason, there is always a chance of work, depending on the circumstances. To be on the safe side, we mill steel to prevent the wood from warping. We also believe that it contributes to the uniqueness of an oak kitchen; it's alive!

Please note: the doors are extra sensitive in the first 3 weeks in connection with the hardening of the oil. With painted fronts (water-based) the full curing time is 3 months.

Solid wood is and remains a natural product that should not be cleaned with aggressive cleaning agents. If a certain stain does develop, you can sand it locally and oil it again.

  • How can I best maintain my concrete worktop?

Before using the concrete worktop, we recommend that you evenly coat the worktop at least 3 to 4 times with Lithofin stain stopper. The stain remover is supplied when pouring the concrete worktop. Then you should treat the concrete worktop at least twice a week with natural green soap, which contains glycerine. Other synthetic cleaning agents can cause (irreparable) damage. Descaling in particular are bad for the concrete.
The use of the green soap provides a soft shine and an easy to clean work surface. It fills the small pores and ensures that stains barely penetrate the leaf and are therefore easier to remove. It is also possible to use Stain Stop from Lithofin in between.

  • Do concrete countertops develop many spots?

    • Because our blades are poured and smoothed on site, the structure is already quite closed in contrast to industrial concrete. By regularly treating the leaf with green soap, the pores of the leaf are saturated, making stains less likely.
    •
    • Despite regular (2-3 times a week) cleaning / smearing with green soap, color nuances can occur with daily use. We are convinced that these traces of use contribute to the unique, characteristic and weathered appearance of concrete. Unfortunately, we have not yet come across the ideal product, but when you apply our maintenance advice, the stains can be kept to a minimum.
    •
    • A number of substances, such as acids and chemicals, can cause a slight discoloration on the surface. It is important that such substances do not remain on the concrete surface for a long time. Remove these substances and smear the concrete with green soap.
    •
    • A property of concrete is that it can shrink during the drying process, unfortunately we cannot prevent this 100%. We do not guarantee shrinkage cracks. Shrinkage cracks can be repaired, whereby the cracks are closed, but unfortunately this is not completely invisible. (Shrinkage) cracks or air bubbles have no further negative influence on the quality of your leaf. (Hair) cracks and / or small air bubbles are properties of the product. If this occurs in your magazine, you are not entitled to a new magazine. You are entitled to a 1 year warranty, whereby we will treat this to you free of charge.
    •
    • Avoid substances such as acids, descalers and ammonia; these can irreparably damage the leaf because the lime is dissolved in the leaf.
    •
    • A pan straight off the stove can be over 350 degrees Celsius, which is hot enough to affect almost any work surface. That is why we always recommend to use coasters and not to place a hot pan without coasters on the top. This prevents deterioration of the coating or the blade itself.
    •
    • Always use a cutting board when you want to cut something. This prevents unnecessary scratches and damage. If the coating is badly damaged, it can be restored. You can request a service for this.
    •
    • We can repair most damage properly. Unfortunately, this is visible due to the slightly different color and any relief difference. But this is always better than a damaged blade!
  • Mounting of walls and side panels

We recommend that the side panels, support panels and / or walls are always mounted slightly beyond the fronts. In this way you can adjust the fronts better and this ensures a beautiful whole.

A good way to mount a panel is to clamp the panel to the cabinet with glue clamps. The panel is usually slightly larger, so that it can be made to fit exactly with the installation. Fasten the panel from the inside with screws of approximately 3.5 x 30 mm. In any case, do not use glue to mount the panels.

When attaching the wooden side panels, you should take into account the possibility that the panel will expand and contract in the width of the wood grain (in connection with the effect of the wood).

    See also our installation manuals.

  • How do I assemble a sink under the concrete worktop?

For mounting a sink it is an option to mount the top of the sink under the worktop with silicone sealant. We recommend the silicone sealant from Polymax. For support, you then place a custom-made wooden beam under the sink, so that the sink stays in place.

  • What must I prepare with regards to the concrete worktop?

    • The kitchen cabinets should be mounted, levelled, aligned, hooked, and fixed to the wall.
    • The cabinets need to be empty, the equipment not yet installed and the drawers out.
    • The walls must preferably be plastered. Walls/frames that are in direct contact with the countertop should be painted or tiled after delivery.
    • Placement, assembly of faucet, sink, etc. is not normally done by us.
    • Minor colour and/or structural differences can occur.
  • Do you install the entire kitchen?

KOAK Design believes that the kitchen assembly can best be arranged with a local professional. This is a cheaper option because of travel expenses etc. In addition, it often works better for the customer due to short communication lines. If this does not work, we can have the installation carried out by one of our external technicians.

  • What kind of warranty do you offer?

We offer a warranty on our doors and concrete slabs, if there are changes which are not due to material properties. If necessary, we take extra steps because, above all, we want you to be satisfied with our (product)!

See our general terms and conditions of sale and installation here.

  • What is the maximum size of deliveries?

The maximal length that we transport is 240 cm. For larger side panels, it is necessary to make them in 2 parts.

  • What if something is damaged?

The most important thing is that after we have done everything to make the kitchen look as beautiful as possible, we also package and transport it as well as possible.

If there is still damage, we ask that you let us know within a week by e-mail by including a few close-up and distant pictures of it.
