Which dishwashers are suitable for IKEA kitchens?

Because IKEA's kitchens (METOD) have 80 cm high cabinets, not all dishwashers are suitable for this.

For a new dishwasher, it is fairly easy to determine from the manufacturer's dimensional drawing. This often states how high the front can be with a minimum and maximum size. For example >705mm and <815mm. So then an 800mm front will fit. (Tip: On most websites, you can turn on the 'Suitable for IKEA METOD kitchen' filter).

Of course, IKEA's own dishwashers also fit and are good value for money.

Do you already have an existing dishwasher?

If you already have a dishwasher that you want to reuse because it's only a few years old, for example, you'll need to look up the size drawing using the serial number.

If the front is 80 cm high as described above, it will naturally fit. If it is smaller than 80 cm, there is a good chance it will not fit at all. But there are also models with a front smaller than 80 cm that are suitable with a modification. See below for explanation.

Not suitable for IKEA METOD

In the example above, the front height is max 72.5 cm, built-in height is min 81.5 cm.

Suppose we set the dishwasher as low as possible, the top of the dishwasher is 81.5 cm high. Bottom of worktop to floor is 88cm at IKEA (with 80cm cupboard + 8cm plinth). You therefore have (88 - 81.5) 6.5 cm of space above the dishwasher and can therefore max out the wooden front by 6.5 cm at the top.

72.5 + 6.5 = 79 cm instead of the required 80 cm where the conclusion is that it won't fit.

(It is possible to choose the plinth of 11 cm which would just make this work).

No front height of 80 cm but still possible:

In the example above, the front height is max 76.5 cm, built-in height is min 81.5 cm.

76.5 + 6.5 = 83 cm, the conclusion is that it will fit if you set it at least 3.5 cm lower than the worktop.

In this case, we recommend screwing two beams of, say, 4x4 cm to the front and centre/back above the dishwasher, so that the top of the dishwasher is 84 cm. The front now protrudes 4 cm at the top beyond the door and this will fit.

If in doubt, send us the dimensional drawing and we will check it for you.
