Sustainable business
KOAK Design believes it is important to do Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This allows us to contribute to sustainable entrepreneurship in the Netherlands. We profile ourselves in various areas, some of which we highlight in the example below;
The most sustainable thing possible in terms of the kitchen industry is to keep your old kitchen, but we understand that it may no longer meet your current requirements. For example, you could renovate your old kitchen by replacing only the doors.
Our kitchens are made with natural solid materials, which is very durable because if you want to change the colour of the kitchen after 10 years, for example, it is possible to sand the wood and treat it again. Then you will have a completely new fresh kitchen.
USING CERTIFIED WOOD
KOAK Design uses sustainable materials; We work mainly with European oak and bamboo. The wood we use is exclusively artificially dried wood with FSC certification. This means that for every tree felled, a new one is planted.
Both types of wood are natural materials that are already very beautiful untreated. In the so-called 'oil room' of the workshop, the wood is treated with protected oil and is thus well protected for daily use. The oak is solid which preserves its natural appearance. This means there are knots in the wood and the annual rings are visible. This is in contrast to veneer wood or wood built up in layers.
For this purpose, the wood is crafted in our workshop with attention to the environment. All lacquers are water-based.
Bamboo has the property of growing very fast, selective felling means there is by definition no deforestation. Hardiness, stability and durability are hallmarks of bamboo.

SOLAR PANELS ON THE ROOF OF THE OFFICE AND WORKSHOP
Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the office and workshop. As a result, we generate energy in a sustainable way, for the use of the machines in the workshop and reduce our footprint.
RESIDUAL WOOD YET SERVICEABLE
Woodworking always involves 'losing' wood. Instead of dumping this wood, we use the remaining pieces of wood to make test boards. We use the remaining wood as firewood. This way, this wood still comes in handy!

Koak Design's office and showroom are well insulated and has even been awarded an A++ energy label.
WOOD LOOP
KOAK Design participates in the Wood Loop of the Branchevereniging voor Interieurbouw en Meubelindustrie.
The Netherlands has declared its ambition to be fully circular by 2050. To do so, our country needs to use 50% fewer natural raw materials as early as 2030.
Since 2022, Royal CBM has introduced the Wood Loop pilot. Even with the best will in the world, we ourselves as KOAK Design cannot improve the recycling cycle. Only as a chain can we. Royal CBM has therefore set up Wood Loop: an innovative organisation that enables every wood processor, retailer and board manufacturer - from large to small - to recycle MDF and chipboard easily and affordably.
TREE's for ALL
We had already planted 250 more trees with this organisation but from 2025, we will plant a tree through this organisation every month for every kitchen sold.
The world needs more forest. That is why we at Trees for All have been committed to a forested world for almost 25 years. We plant trees in the Netherlands and abroad. We also make people aware of the importance of trees. Because trees are indispensable for all life on earth.
