The possibilities with a bamboo kitchen

KOAK Design started about thirteen years ago with only solid oak. In recent years, we have continued to develop ourselves and our products. This included bamboo fronts. The many colours available mean that there are numerous style options. Read on for some great examples.

KOAK Design and bamboo

KOAK Design started about thirteen years ago by performing the IKEA Hack on METOD interior cabinets. In the early years, we only used solid oak fronts. Hence the earlier name K'Oak Design ;) However, in recent years we have grown and developed our product further. With this development came new types of wood. Today, we will discuss bamboo and what possibilities it offers.

Characteristics of bamboo

By definition bamboo is a grass species. However, due to its characteristics it is often referred to as wood. Characteristics of bamboo are that it grows very quickly, it is very strong, it is maintenance friendly and it lasts very long. The bamboo that KOAK Design uses is FSC certified. This means that the bamboo was selectively cut, so there is no mass deforestation.

Processing in the workshop

The bamboo for KOAK kitchens is made in our workshop next to our showroom, exactly according to your wishes. This includes sawing to size, sanding, adding hinge holes and steel strips, oiling and optionally adding a milled-in handle. In total we have seven colours for bamboo. There are many style possibilities, especially with the different types of wood oil. Below we have highlighted some of the colours and styles. This may provide inspiration for your kitchen.

The style possibilities

Colourful, jungle kitchen with Bamboo Safari

Bamboo Safari 585 fronts

This kitchen of our former colleague Margriet is a mix of bamboo and bohemian. This is due to the striking kitchen fronts and the colourful marble top. But this is exactly what Margriet wanted; something eye-catching and different from the rest! The fact that her friends describe this kitchen as a typical 'Margriet kitchen' is the biggest compliment for her.

This kitchen is highlighted on our website, more photos and information can be found here

Minimalistic Scandinavian kitchen made of bamboo

Bamboo Plain Pressed 231 fronts

A nice contrast between this kitchen and the one above. Whereas the former was praised for its colourful attributes and striking style, this kitchen is very minimalist and clean. Both are a feast for the eyes. In this kitchen, a white interior has been chosen, the same colour is used in the worktop. The extensive use of white makes the Bamboo 231 fronts really stand out!

Tight and minimalistic with Bamboo Density 433

Bamboo Density 433 fronts

We delivered these kitchen fronts for the French influencers @coconuts_deco. On their Instagram page they show the most beautiful interiors. It's still fun to see new photos of this kitchen every now and then! This kitchen also has a clean look, but a bit more colour has been chosen. The walls have green paint and wall tiles. The dark brown of the bamboo is also reflected in the accessories.

Colourful Boho kitchen with Bamboo Density 448

Bamboo Density 448 fronts

This photo shows that with the Bamboo Density fronts, a cheerful, Bohemian interior is also possible. The drawers in this photo are in Density 448, a slightly darker colour than the 433. The kitchen itself is quite sleek, because of the milled handles and the concrete top. However, the pink wall complemented by the accessories gives this kitchen a warm, Boho look.
