Countertops
Colors
The concrete sheet is poured on site. Just before the concrete is poured, the mixture is provided with a colorant. This ultimately determines what color the concrete gets.
The sample colors can be seen in the showroom and otherwise the concrete engineer can also take color samples with him when he starts making the top.
Terrazzo
The terrazzo top is also poured on site. Small stones of your choice are added to the concrete mixture. It has been used for centuries for floors and worktops. It is loved for its unique, playful look and endless colour options. This makes it perfect for both modern and classic interiors.
Pouring concrete
Installing a counter top is custom work. The concrete sheet is poured and smoothed on site.
First a mold is made on the cabinets. The sheet is then built up layer by layer, minimizing the risk of shrinkage cracks. In addition, double reinforcement is also incorporated in the concrete to ensure that it is strong. The top is never completely solid, so the cabinets can withstand the weight.
Because the concrete countertop is made on site on the cabinets, it is easy to take into account recesses or special shapes, and no seams and smudged skirting boards are required.
Unfortunately, KOAK Design is currently only able to cast concrete worktops in the Netherlands. Should you wish to have a concrete worktop in your new KOAK kitchen, you will have to purchase it from a local supplier. This text and explanation is mainly intended to show how the entire process works.
Maintenance
When finishing the concrete countertop, a bottle of stain-stop agent is left behind. The leaf must be treated with this the first two times. Then we recommend cleaning the top at least twice a week with liquid green soap. The more often you do this, the better.
Treating your countertop is simple and fast.
However, concrete remains a natural product, which means that it will start to live over time.
At work
Here is a small movie about how a concrete worktop is made on site by one of our skilled blade makers.
The sturdy gray of the concrete is a good combination with our oak wooden fronts.
Prices
We use a surface price for the concrete countertops depending on the thickness of the worktop. In addition, we do not charge extra for a recess for a sink, tap, etc. and of course no measurement costs because we make the tops on site.
The thickness of the top is at least 5 cm, we often use 6, 8 or 10 cm thick.
Price is from € 525,- per linear meter for a standard 64 cm deep top. (At least € 1850 per address)
